Activity 2: Language learning strategies I

*****
Language learning tips vs. Module 1 method

The language learning tips presented on the website provided are, in my opinion, much more focused to autonomous learning than the learning method in module 1. If you're a student following the Module 1 plan you'd be pretty much isolated from your classmates, even when being in touch with other learners or native speakers of the language your learning is very important in the development of the communicative skills (which are basically the aim when learning a new language).

The website also recommends talking to friends or joining a language club, which I think are very good ideas in order to become a fluent and confident speaker. The web also points out something that Module 1 lacks, which is the presence of listening tasks (apparently introduced in Module 2). Moreover, approaching a new linguistic challenge through movies or music are very useful (and commonly popular) techniques when learning a new language.

It is true that both methods stress the importance of acquiring a decent language learning method by keeping record of the time employed in their learning. Module 1 presented charts that students had to fill in and these tips suggest that working a little bit every day would be advisable in order to achieve stability.

Nevertheless, what a learner would find in this web is just a list of advisable approaches to learning a second language. Since it does not present any kind of methodology like Module 1 do I think that a combination of the two sources that are being compared would be the best choice for any student.
